ArteNOM Selección de 1146 Añejo Tequila
Distillery: Tequileña (NOM 1146)
82.6 proof
ArteNOM Selección de 1146 Añejo Tequila is produced at the renowned Tequileña distillery in Tequila, Jalisco, under the supervision of Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca. This unique añejo is crafted using 100% estate-grown blue Weber agave. The aging process is exceptionally complex: 60% of the tequila is aged for two years in used French white oak Cabernet Franc barrels, while the remaining 40% is aged for three years in toasted American oak barrels. The two lots are then masterfully blended together and aged for an additional year in used French oak, creating a rich, deeply layered, and highly complex spirit that bridges the gap between traditional tequila and fine cognac or whiskey.
Tasting notes
Aroma: Warm baking spices, butterscotch, toasted oak, roasted agave, dark chocolate, and dried dark fruits. Palate: Rich and viscous with layers of caramel, vanilla, walnut, leather, baking spices, and a subtle herbaceous agave undertone. Finish: Long, warm, and elegant with lingering notes of sweet oak, cocoa, and black pepper.
Reviews
Great buy if you like whiskey notes in your anejo. Worth it at $90-130; widely available but price creeping up. Solid step up from average anejo.
Nose: caramel, vanilla, cooked agave, baking spices, cherry, cab franc/wine notes. Palate: caramel, agave, black pepper, oak, butterscotch, vanilla. Finish: pepper, oak, cinnamon, lingering sweet/spice. Complex, barrel-influenced but agave-forward.
