Boulevardier recipe

The Boulevardier is whiskey, Campari, and sweet vermouth. Think of it as a Negroni with a whiskey base.
  • Spirit: Bourbon or rye
  • Glass: Rocks glass
  • Garnish: Orange peel
  • Makes: 1 drink
Boulevardier cocktail in a rocks glass

Ingredients

  • 1.25 oz Bourbon or rye whiskey
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz Sweet vermouth
  • 1 Orange peel, for garnish

Method

  1. Add the whiskey, Campari, and vermouth to a mixing glass. Fill it with ice.
  2. Stir for 30 seconds.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube.
  4. Express an orange peel over the drink and drop it in.

Tips

  • Use 1.5 oz of whiskey if you want less bitter edge.
  • Rye gives a drier drink. Bourbon makes it softer.

Best bourbon or rye for the Boulevardier

Choose a rye or a bourbon at 100 proof or higher. Campari is bold, so a stronger whiskey keeps its place in the glass.
